Your Yogis

Jackie

Jackie first began her yoga journey in her early 20’s, but then life happened. She reunited with the practice in 2010 when that old flame came back to life in an “oh there you are” moment. As her personal practice progressed, so did her need to grow and share with others what yoga has to offer. As a nurse, Jackie has always been drawn to helping others. Teaching yoga was on her mind and while contemplating how to make this happen, the universe found a way to lead her on this path. Through 2019/2020 Jackie obtained her 500 hr AYT certification and Kundalini certification.

Jackie loves teaching vinyasa flow in the ashtanga/Hatha styles and moving meditations (kundalini) noting there is something so special about movement with flow and breath, stretch, and strength. As your guide on the mat, Jackie hopes for you to find release and joy through movement & breath, teaching to all levels.

When not on the mat, you will find her in the garden or hiking in the woods. “Whatever makes you feel sunshine from the inside out, follow that.” Sat Nam

KENDRA
I began practicing yoga in the summer of 2012 after I had just started my apprenticeship as a farrier (blacksmith). I was very sore from the physicality of the job and a friend had suggested I tried yoga to increase my mobility. I was into strength training at that time and the workload from shoeing horses and strength training just did not compliment one another. I went to my first class at the then Country Zen Yoga in Schomberg and I was hooked! Yoga started out for me as a way to get in my “workouts”. I was practicing 75 minute Hot Vinyasa classes 5-6x per week, sometimes doing doubles. It was later into my practice that I started noticing the changes in myself. My reaction and response was different. I was calmer, and definitely more at peace with me and that is what I try to deliver in my yoga class, in whatever style I am teaching. Yoga for me has become the calming of the mind and body and the uplifting of the spirit. It is said that Yoga is not a workout, but a work-in and that is my mentality now. I still love the physicality of yoga, but what it does for my presence and myself as a human being far exceeds that of my body.

I started my first 200HR YTT in February of 2020 at Country Zen Yoga. I was fortunate to have started in person and due to the pandemic, finished the course on zoom! The course was brilliant along with its teachers and gave me the confidence to start teaching immediately which I did.

My husband and I moved to Perth, Western Australia in august of 2021 and there I started teaching full time doing 10-12 classes (or more) per week in various different styles. And this past May-June I went to Byron Bay NSW Australia and completed my intense 300HR Advanced Vinyasa training  with Duncan Parviainen and HOV yoga. I have also completed several other courses to always be upgrading my skills as first and foremost a student and then being able to transfer those skills on to those that I teach.

Corry

Corry started her journey with movement at age 6 studying ballet for over 12 years, she began her yoga practice 14 years ago and decided to start her Yoga Teacher Training in 2011.  However, early in her training Corry sustained an unrelated knee injury and was forced to put her yoga teacher training on hold.

As Corry’s mobility started to increase she returned to her mat and her yoga practice became a big part of her journey back to wellness.

In 2014 she resumed her Yoga Teacher Training, completing her CYA-RYT 200 hr. Hatha Certification in 2015 and has since been an active member of the Canadian Yoga Alliance.

Corry has been teaching yoga and other fitness classes for over 9 years, Corry brings positive energy and balance to each class, promoting calmness and encouraging participants to carry their intentions off their mats.  Corry insists yoga should be fun, and brings that attitude to her classes, promoting peace, mindfulness and gratitude.

Jan
Jan found yoga 15 years ago to balance long runs and a high intensity lifestyle.  It lead her to meditation and breathwork that gave such balance and joy to her life, in 2023 she opted to complete her 200Hr RYT training in the beautiful Kootenay Mountains in British Columbia.  Her power yoga classes challenge and balance the body to calm the mind. With a focus on breathwork throughout her classes, and guided teaching methodology, students should leave feeling refreshed and renewed.  I am honored to guide students in their yoga journey!
Drishti
Yoga has been a part of Drishti’s culture since she was a child. Her journey began when she was 10 years old, practising with her sangha (community) in west of India, where she was born. It started as just another cultural routine, but little did she know that her personal Yoga practise would be something that’d ground her after her move to a Western foreign country, Canada at 12 years old. Yoga & her Mat is something that holds a sacred space for Drishti till date. With the curiosity in Indian philosophy and physical alignments of yoga postures, Drishti decided to deepen her knowledge & got certified in 200-HR YTT from Keswick, Ontario in 2022. Her favourite style of yoga to teach is Vinyasa and Hatha which is welcome to all levels of students. She likes to provide modification options to make a class personal to one with a mix of challenging- strength, balance, flexible and dynamic postures with a soothing Savasana in her class. Drishti is very excited to get onto the path of teaching and to share her roots with her sangha here in Alliston via Yoga postures, Indian classical music in the background, & some mantra chanting to open/close her sacred Yoga class.
